Planning a trip to a national park is a great scouting activity, especially if you can save a bit of cash along the way. Make plans to pack up the car and road trip to your favorite national park in 2020 because every park is offering free entrance days! The remaining free entrance days of 2020 include:

- April 18: First Day of National Park Week
- Aug. 25: National Park Service Birthday
- Sept. 26: National Public Lands Day
- Nov. 11: Veterans Day
Not only is it free to visit the parks on the days listed above (minus a vehicle fee), fourth graders can download and print a free pass that allows them to access public lands and water through the Every Kid Outdoors initiative. The pass even covers every fourth-graders’ guests! Now that you’ve found a sweet deal, here’s a list of national parks you absolutely cannot miss:
1. Yellowstone National Park
This 2.2 million-acre national park is famous for its diverse geography and unique activities, making it a place you won’t want to miss. During your visit, don’t forget to visit Old Faithful Geyser and paddle along the shores of Yellowstone Lake.
2. Zion National Park
The expansive canyon of Zion National Park is best to visit in April and May or September and October to avoid the extreme heat of the summer months. If your troop is looking for a thrilling experience, try hiking Angel’s Landing or trek the Narrows through the thinnest section of Zion Canyon.
3. Grand Teton National Park
There’s nothing better than hiking the Tetons! The Cascade Mountain Trail shows off the best views of snow-capped mountains and expansive prairies. One of the most popular activities is the Snake River where you can book a kayaking trip for your troop. Don’t forget to stop by Jackson Hole for a bite to eat after a long day in the sun!
