You know the saying “beauty is only skin deep”? Well, one New York plastic surgeon is on a mission to prove that statement is right. In a slightly controversial yet buzzworthy event, Dr. Ramtin Kassir held a showcase during New York Fashion Week, but instead of designer clothes, he debuted his latest plastic surgery creations.
The show, “Faces of Beauty,” featured 50 of Kassir’s patients-turned-models who strutted their stuff down the runway to show off the doctor’s work. There was everything from nose jobs and chin jobs to face lifts and botox injections. One woman, who had her nose done for her 40th birthday, said Kassir is “the designer and we’re his works of art.” It was literally a parade of faces as each patient/model’s took to the catwalk while their before and after pictures rotated on screens behind them.
“There are lot of trends out there,” Kassir said. “One is the clothes you wear. Another is the face and body you wear. Just like Ralph Lauren introduces his new line, what I am introducing is aesthetically pleasing plastic surgery.”
One of Kassir’s main goals was to demonstrate how natural and understated plastic surgery can be. “My patients look phenomenal. You would never know they had anything done,” he said. “We are saying, ‘This is the New York look. It’s not the Hollywood look. It’s not overdone.’”
The mere idea of a plastic surgery fashion show instantly had people riled up. Others think this doctor has the right idea. If someone has had surgery or a procedure that gives them a wonderful new look, why not show it off?
