Symptoms of hormonal imbalance in women

You’re tired and sluggish. You feel out of whack and may not be able to concentrate well. Might it just be a case of not feeling well or is it juggling a busy schedule?

If you’re a woman over 40, it’s a very real possibility that hormone imbalance is the culprit. Many women go undiagnosed and suffer in silence. Here are some symptoms to be aware of, from Dr. Oz:

Estrogen
Symptoms: If you are overweight, you might be producing too much estrogen. Fat cells produce the hormone, and extra weight can lead to too much estrogen in the body. An estrogen imbalance can cause the growth of breast and uterine cancers. Too little estrogen in menopausal women can cause side effects such as hot flashes, headaches and joint pain.

Testosterone

Symptoms: In the years before menopause, a woman’s testosterone levels decrease. Symptoms may include a drop in libido.
