Wellness runs deep in Minneapolis

Healthy trail runThere are several things we tend to do well in Minneapolis, and one of those is promoting wellness. The area offers so many ways to help people invested in their well-being to stay healthy and fit. We have a multitude of outdoor activities, including running, hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, biking and yoga in the park. We have many farmers markets to ensure we can eat healthfully, as well.

Health is something we’re invested in as a culture! And, that’s why we’re excited that August is National Wellness Month. It’s something so many of us care deeply about.

In fact, it’s something that we’ve included as part of our plan for the LakeHaus. You can expect to have a fully equipped fitness center when you live at the LakeHaus. Our 4,000-square-foot fitness facility will include a co-ed sauna, yoga room and cycling room. There also will be a rooftop pool where you can get some laps in or just relax at the end of a busy day.

But, it’s not just about what we have to offer at the LakeHaus. It’s also about what the surrounding community offers. There are a ton of places to practice various types of yoga, even aerial yoga. We in Minneapolis enjoy some really good rails-to-trails for hiking, biking, walking or running. You can also stop by a number of farmers markets, such as the Minneapolis Farmers Market or Kingfield Farmers Market to pick up some fresh food. And, these are just a few of the activities that are available to you in the area.

We even have events that boost wellness, such as the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend that the city hosts in October, an event that has been going on since 1982. Participants can register to run a 10-mile, 10K, 5K or participate in the marathon. There are some perks too. Anyone who participates will score awesome gear. You can also visit the Health & Fitness Expo Friday and Saturday of that weekend. This year, the event will be hosted Oct. 4-6. We invite you to learn more about the event by visiting the Twin Cities in Motion website.

For us, wellness isn’t just something we focus on for one month of a year. It’s something many of us are devoted to in Minneapolis. Our city offers so many options for people to invest in their overall health and push themselves to achieve their fitness goals. It’s no wonder so many athletes and health buffs love the Twin Cities!
