But, how can something like sleep have an actual, long-term effect on a person’s skin? The director of the Skin Study Center at UH Case Medical Center says poor sleep can prevent your body from secreting a normal amount of melatonin. Since melatonin is a natural antioxidant, it could be to blame for why a lack of sleep takes its toll.
Of course, good sleep alone won’t necessarily guarantee you will look 30 at the age of 50. Remember to always stay hydrated, protect your skin from the sun and moisturize!
