Predicting team honors for the new-look Philadelphia Eagles

A new era is being ushered in by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Gone are the days of Andy Reid. Now it’s Chip Kelly’s turn to see if he can get the Eagles to soar like his high-flying Oregon Ducks did in his college coaching career.

How excited are YOU about this change? (While we’re asking questions, have you picked up new Eagles gear from SV Sports for the season yet?)

One sports writer picked the Eagles to finish 6-10 in 2013. He also believes LeSean McCoy will be Philadelphia’s MVP even after his injury-plagued 2012 campaign limited him to only 840 yards rushing and two touchdowns a year ago. His prediction for McCoy: 1,503 yards rushing (4.94 per carry) and 11 touchdowns.

“Chip Kelly ran the ball twice as many times as he passed while at the University of Oregon,” Bleacher Report columnist Cody Swartz wrote, “which means McCoy should eclipse his previous career high in carries (273).”

Other of Swartz’s predicted awards for the 2013 Eagles:

Defensive Player of the Year: Linebacker Brandon Graham. “The switch to a 3-4 defense shouldn’t hurt Brandon Graham at all. In fact, it could bring out the best in the athletic Graham.”

Comeback Player of the Year: Tight end Jason Peters, who was out last season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Breakout Offensive Player: Center Jason Kelce; Breakdown Offensive Player: Receiver Brent Celek; Breakout Defensive Player: Cornerback Brandon Boykin; Breakdown Defensive Player: Safety Kenny Phillips.
