Did you know…The first successful use of an ejection seat in an Air Force aircraft occurred on August 29, 1949? The ejector seat in our museum is from a McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom. It contained a rocket cartridge that catapulted the occupant from the aircraft in seconds and an automatic system that deployed the parachute.
