Make the most of your corporate retreat with these tips

There’s nothing worse than when a corporate retreat goes bust. Poorly planned activities and employees behaving badly can quickly turn what’s supposed to be a fun event into an awful experience that no one wants to repeat ever again.

Thankfully, there are ways that you can salvage a corporate retreat gone wrong with a little bit of planning and foresight in advance.

  • Involve employees in the process.

After all, this is for them, right? Instead of edicts coming from the C-suite, involve employees at every level in the planning process. No one wants to have activities shoved down their throat that they had no role in planning. So, make it a collaborative effort.

  • Stay focused on the goal.

Too often, corporate retreats become too much about bragging about corporate accomplishments and less about team building. Remember the goal of the corporate retreat is to motivate, inspire and foster teamwork.

  • Make it about more than just the company.

It shouldn’t be all about the company. In fact, you learn more by examining what other companies are doing and what you can do better. Focus on what other companies are doing that you’d like to emulate, even if they are outside of your sphere.
