Both hardhats and bikinis seen on the Jersey Shore

UnderContructionWait, you’re telling me Hurricane Sandy was here?

Look at the bustling beach towns of Seaside Heights, Point Pleasant and Wildwood N.J., and you’d never know a massive hurricane devastated the area less than one year ago.

Thanks to climbing temperatures and perfect weather, today Jersey Shore has never seemed more alive. And this 4th of July holiday was no different.

The only indication that the area had suffered damage is the lingering din of construction noise, with workers in a race to finish the last tasks of the rebuilding effort. In fact it’s not uncommon to see a crowd full of men in orange hardhats nearby coco-buttered babes in bikinis.

Long-time visitor Kerry Schmidt of Orange County, NY said, ‘We come every year the week of Fourth of July, so it’s tradition. And this year in particular wanting to support it even more. Never even hesitated about coming.’

The local shop and business owners along the boardwalk have even taken to labeling T-Shirts with the motto ‘Stronger than the Storm,’ which is also the name of a song played throughout the day.

As anyone will tell you, there is still work that needs to be done along the Jersey Shore. It may never be the same as it once was, but the real meat of the story is that the boardwalks and beaches are still there, people are coming to the shore and they are stronger than ever.
