At Minky Couture we love blankets. And, we know you do too! There does come a time in the life of a blanket when it has been loved just a little too much. (Even though your eight-year-old disagrees.) Signs of extreme wear may include, but are not limited to:
- The satin trim is no longer silky or has disappeared completely
- A mottled, stained look
- So much fraying that only a small square of nearly transparent fabric is left
Do you have a blanket that looks like this around your house? While we can’t making any promises for that tiny scrap of thin fabric, we did collect some ideas on how you can give that oldie, but goodie a new lease on life. If all else fails and there just isn’t enough quality fabric left to work with, there is something to be said for snapping a photo and slipping in to your child’s book of remembrance.

Make stuffed animals
Simple to make, cute and huggable, these little stuffed animals are a great option. This amazing blog includes links to over 150 FREE stuffed animal patterns.
Make a picnic quilt
Use your collection of unused baby receiving blankets or worn blankets and make large squares and piece them together. Purchase an inexpensive vinyl tablecloth or vinyl from the fabric store and sew the quilt top and the vinyl back-to-back. Then flip them right side out and finish the seam. Voila! A picnic blanket!
Doll blankets and pillows
If you have several weathered blankets, these little doll blankets are a neat way to go. Younger children love to set a doll up in a bed with a matching comforter and pillow. Here are some great ideas to get you started.
