Streaming content can use up your Internet bandwidth and slow down your connection. But now, employees who download music, television shows and movies while at work might cause even greater problems for your company.
Internet service providers are now monitoring for copyright infringement through sites such as BitTorrent. Illegal downloads committed from company IP addresses could get your company cited. If done often enough, you could face more serious consequences. How serious? Your Internet browsing could be blocked entirely, or your bandwidth throttled down – effectively slowing your connection to a crawl.
With this new policy, it’s more important than ever to have good employee computer-use protocol, backed up by good filters that can keep track of what your employees are doing on their work computers.
