Those of you who are Oprah Winfrey fans may have already heard the iconic talk show host rave about how bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) helped her regain her energy during menopause.
In O, the Oprah Magazine, Oprah opened up about her struggle with fatigue and depression through menopause. For two years, she said, she felt “out of kilter,” exhausted and generally not herself. She suspected it was hormone related since she was going through menopause, but until a friend recommended BHRT, she didn’t know how much hormones were playing into how she felt.
Once Oprah began hormone treatments, she immediately felt like her hormones were back in balance. ”After one day on bioidentical estrogen, I felt the veil lift,” she said. “After three days, the sky was bluer, my brain was no longer fuzzy, my memory was sharper. I was literally singing and had a skip in my step.”
While menopause is an unavoidable part of life for women, it is possible to avoid the nasty side effects of your hormones being out of whack. If you’re struggling with fatigue, depression, weight gain or a general feeling of melancholy, consider BHRT to get your hormones back on track.
