We’ve all gotten it. The group text message. And although the topic might somewhat interest us, the 20 or so responses do not.
Katie Heaney over at BuzzFeed takes on group texting etiquette. Among her suggestions, “Don’t send group texts to people who don’t know each other…It’s so tempting, I know, but it’s a time-saver for you and almost always a nuisance for everyone else.”
Group texting is not the only area where we need to redefine our manners. At Bloomberg Business Week, writer Mathew Ingram posted about the future of online etiquette. In addition to discussing a recent blog post by New York Times writer Nick Bilton, Ingram asserts our biggest challenge is how many competing forms of communication are available. You might prefer email, but your parents like the phone and your children texting. So adjust and adapt to communicate with others more effectively.
And be patient with those who aren’t where we are technologically (Think – mom, dad, or grandma). It’s sound advice.
