Have you ever wondered what makes Heritage School so different when it comes to treating troubled teens?
Based in Provo, our school has been providing hope for teens and their families for almost 30 years, using nurturing relationships to help at-risk youth navigate those tough adolescent years.
WHAT WE OFFER
We offer a unique approach to treatment, therapy and education known as the “Relationship Model.” Here’s how it works:
Treatments are grounded in the evidence-based philosophy that change comes from the inside out, not from external techniques. We believe close, personal relationships are essential for internal healing.
Therapy programs at Heritage School are personalized for every student. Expect to see some traditional methods such as family and group therapy, as well as some nontraditional ones such as equine and recreation therapy. That kind of therapy is so valuable for long-term healing. At Heritage School, we believe that compassion, discipline and structure are all important elements of lasting change.
Education is a super-high priority at Heritage School. Classes run year-round. Our objective is help students reach that sometimes-difficult goal of graduating from high school. That’s one of the reasons why we offer unique opportunities for students to “catch up” through specialized education. Class sizes are small — 12 students or less per instructor — which allows for more individualized instruction. With our faculty certified in secondary education and trained to handle special educational needs, we can help our students achieve their academic goals.
WHY WE DO IT
So why do we do what we do? Much of it has to do with our founder, Jerry Spanos, who was a troubled teen himself. He described himself as a disadvantaged child who was branded a failure by “the system” and “desperately needed an opportunity to prove otherwise.”
Heritage School is Jerry’s gift of opportunity. For almost three decades, Heritage School has been helping at-risk-youth succeed at becoming the individuals they were meant to be. We are more than education, more than recreation, more than treatment and more than therapy. Heritage is about relationships.
