High school: It doesn’t last forever. A few years from now, it’ll seem like ancient history. You’ll wonder as you shake your head: “Did I really wear that to the prom?”
Today, however, it seems like high school is, and always will be, your entire world. So, here are some tips for surviving the jungle of high school. Hopefully, they’ll be helpful to everyone from incoming freshmen to seasoned upperclassmen who could use a reminder.
Dress for success. Don’t worry about impressing others; dress for yourself. Dressing snazzy raises your confidence and boosts your performance throughout the day.
Don’t procrastinate. “Forget bullies; procrastination is seriously your largest enemy from now on,” writes Girlslife.com. “Create a homework schedule and stick to it. Write down all of your assignments in a planner and finish things sooner than later.”
Don’t let a relationship consume your life. It’s great to have a supportive boyfriend or girlfriend, but your education should be your No. 1 priority now. “Talk to your significant other about this —perhaps create some sort of ‘work, then play’ schedule for texting/skyping during weeknights, and on the eve of huge tests.”
Challenge yourself. Don’t just go for the easy ‘A.’ Enroll in tough courses, and — for the super gutsy — sign up for a club that intrigues you but that’s out of your comfort zone. Stretch yourself, and you’ll meet new and fascinating people.
