Anyone who has been paying any attention to fashion trends can tell you that bright and bold is totally in style. In fact, the brighter and bolder, the better.
But before you go digging out your neon Hypercolor t-shirts, recognize that it’s not the same kind of bright and bold that was around in the late 80s and early 90s. You’ll still see occasional splashes of neon, but it’s more about making a classy statement (think bold, red lips) by pairing bold colors and patterns with more subdued ones.
This same trend of bright and bold patterns has carried over into home decor, and 2013 promises to bring more of the same. According to this article in the Boston Globe, current home-decor trends include some of the following:
Patterns - If you want your home to rack up style points this year, then consider animal prints (as in prints with pictures of animals on them, not just the zebra or leopard patterns that have been popular recently) and painter-inspired florals. And if you used stripes in your decor in 2012, there’s no need to panic because they are still in for 2013.
Colors - It’s back to the basics as far as colors go. Shades of blue, yellow, and red are the popular choices for 2013.
Style - As for overall styles, clean and modern lines continue to rule 2013. A more feminine look is also in — not bubble gum pink and Hello Kitty feminine, but some softer lines with hints of pink and purple.
