In general, we are all about food and flavor at Chef Shamy. And although no holiday table would be complete without an array of Chef Shamy butters, we know that your guests need utensils and might enjoy a little festive décor as they “ooooh” and “ahhhh” over your yams glazed with Chef Shamy’s Cinnamon and Brown Sugar Honey Butter. We’ve gathered a few tips for you which should make your holiday table warm, inviting and memorable for your guests.
First, keep your table settings simple for dinner parties. Only set out utensils, glassware and dinnerware you know your guests will need. Additional silverware, plates and clutter only take up important real estate on your table, and guests need to feel comfortable that they’re using the right forks.
Next, take a little extra time to gather interesting items of different textures to use as your tablescape. Examples include books, decorative plates, bowls filled with fruit, candies or other decorative items, vases, flowers, candles and other home décor accessories. A surefire equation for an effective tablescape includes a light source, a botanical element, a fabric item (runner, placemats, napkins), a meaningful personal accent (photo frame, book, collectible item) and finally, one holiday item to celebrate the season.
Your tablescape should take up no more than 1/3 of your table space. Use decorative items of different heights for interest, but make sure that your guest can see each other and talk comfortably across your holiday table. After all, this is the season for enjoying delicious food while spending quality time with those most special to us. Happy holidays from our table to yours!
