Newborn babies asleep on a white blanketEver since technology allowed us to learn beforehand whether our babies would be boys or girls, people have been eager to discover if they’re having a son or a daughter. Which camp do you fall into? If you haven’t yet made the decision, we have some pros and cons for your to weigh your choices!

If you like surprises… then you should definitely wait. Birthday parties, gifts, baby genders . . . some people just love a good surprise. If your idea of a great time is a day with no schedule, a road trip with no destination, or just involves being shocked, save learning your baby’s true nature for the big day.

But, if your idea of a great time involves making lists, checking itineraries, and planning everything down to the last detail, you should probably find out your baby’s gender in advance.

However, if you’ve got your heart set on a little Tommy or a darling Susan, and can’t wait one more second to know which it is, then by all means schedule that sonogram. Keep in mind, though, that a healthy, happy baby is likely to win your heart – regardless of which gender you thought you would prefer.

In any case, finding out your baby’s gender in advance is a deeply personal decision. There are no right or wrong answers. So talk it over with your spouse or loved ones, and be prepared to be ecstatic no matter what!
