Thinking about buying a home? Here are several things you may want to add to your pre-purchase to-do list so that you’re more likely to have smooth sailing throughout the home buying process:
- Check your credit score. Before you apply for a home loan, it’s always a good idea to check your credit report and score. Make sure you check your entire credit report for any errors. It’s estimated at least one-quarter of all consumer credit reports have incorrect information in them.
- Be money-wise. In the months leading up to applying for a home loan, save as much as you can, avoid taking on new debt and pay all of your debt payments on time. This isn’t the time to go out and buy a new television set on credit or pay your credit card bill late.
- Know what you can afford. That’s where we come in! We can help you determine how much house you can afford based on your income and debt obligations.
- Find an agent. This isn’t a time to go it alone. A real estate agent can help you navigate one of the biggest purchases you’ll ever make!
