Q&A: Products for support during pregnancy

17347876_SQUESTION: We received a question recently wondering if Youngevity offers a “pregnant woman’s” product. Here is our response:

ANSWER: Expecting mothers need all 90 Essential Nutrients, but there are a couple of areas, from our experience, that we also look for. Remember, with 90 for Life we simply identify the affected tissue or category and support that category.

1. Calcium deficiencies — Low back pain, knee pain, loose teeth — as the baby builds new bones, if the mother doesn’t get enough nutrition through her food and supplements, the baby will pull nutrition from the mother’s reserves. So these are signs that the reserves aren’t enough — and signs that we need to supplement more. Look for the Healthy Heart & Brain Pack 2.0

2. Edema — Usually swelling in the feet or legs, primarily due to clogged kidneys (for kidney support, Dr. Wallach recommends the Ultimate Daily in addition to the 90 Essential Nutrients), but possibly from a lack of protein if the person is on a vegetarian diet or has serious absorption problems.

3. We like to use extra EFAs during pregnancy to help with the baby’s brain development.

There isn’t a specific “pregnant woman’s” product — Dr. Wallach recommends the 90 Essential Nutrients. The Ultimate Daily can be a great add-on if the person needs extra hemoglobin support (for those who may be told they have an “iron deficiency” — they actually don’t measure iron on most tests, they measure the Hemoglobin and this needs both iron and Folic Acid and other co-factors and the Ultimate Daily can be a great source of these).

4. Also, Dr. Wallach does advocate adding in some SELENIUM as well. Typically 3 per 100 lbs of body weight.
