Organize your bedroom like a pro!

Nice warm bedroom interior of mountain lodge. Fox Glacier Lodge, Fox Glacier, West Coast, South Island, New Zealand.Your bedroom should be your own personal relaxation haven, but many times it becomes a place for collecting clutter from the day or piles of dirty clothes and shoes. Here are some simple organization suggestions that will help you keep the mess at bay and give you your space back!

The easiest place to start is also one of the most obvious: your bed! Remember when your parents would ask you to make your bed before going to school in the mornings? We’re going to ask you to do the same! Why? Because your bed is your own personal sanctuary.

Considering you spend nearly as much time sleeping as you do at your job, you might as well take good care of the area. It only takes a couple of minutes to pull up the sheet, smooth the wrinkles out of the comforter and position the pillows. A made bed looks nice, and by getting in the habit of keeping your bed in order, you may in turn develop a habit of keeping your entire bedroom spic and span!

Tackling your collection of footwear is another quick bedroom fix. Shoes are famous for creating clutter, and if you don’t have a proper organization method they can end up all over the place–or worse–lose their significant other! Do you find yourself always hunting for the other half of your favorite pair? You’re not alone! Fix this by picking up a simple shoe rack at your local big box store, or if you’re especially handy, create a shoe shelf of your own. Having a place to put all of your shoes not only prevents clutter, it also keeps them separate from things that can stain or scuff them. That means less polishing, less searching, and more winning. Enough said.

Do you have trouble shifting through the mountain of books and papers on your nightstand? Consider using one of the corners of your room for a reading nook. Invest in a comfortable sitting chair and a side table. Having an area that is designated for relaxation tends to motivate people to keep things neat and tidy. All of your paperwork and extra reading materials can reside in your office. Keep your bedroom as simple as possible!

By following these three simple and easy to remember organizational tips, you’ll be on your way to a tidy bedroom and more relaxing personal space in no time. Start out small and turn these activities into habits. You’ll be surprised how big of an impact little things make.
