So you’ll soon be welcoming a new addition to the family? Congratulations! This is such an exciting time! Here are some simple things to avoid to help keep your little one healthy.
- We’ve all heard the phrase “bun in the oven.” Well, let’s not take it literally. It’s important for Baby to keep cool while he or she is growing inside you. Overheating can be a concern for pregnant women. Therefore, stay away from saunas, hot tubs and super hot weather, advises Pregnancy.org.
- Stay active. If you can avoid it, don’t stay inert. This isn’t to say you should take up a new sport or sign up for a 5K, but remaining active throughout your pregnancy is recommended. Not to mention, it can relieve stress and help keep your body strong throughout your nine-month wait.
- Don’t clean the litter box. Hey, you’re off the hook! Pass this unpleasant chore on to someone else in the family while you’re pregnant. Your cat’s litter box might contain germs that could lead to toxoplasmosis, an infection often found in cats and birds. Pregnant women are vulnerable to toxoplasmosis, so pass the scoop off to someone else!
Other things to avoid include standing on your feet for long periods of time without rest, consuming caffeine and alcohol, and hunting. For tips on simple things to avoid to help keep Baby safe and healthy, check out this article from Deseret News.
