Save the date: Hot summer activities for couples

18184370_SWe all know June is the season for weddings, but are you searching for creative ways to impress your special someone? Summer might just be the best time of year for dating, because the warm weather and longer days make it easy to find casual, fun activities to do – without breaking your budget.

The best advice for summer dating? Whether you’re in a longterm relationship, or getting to know someone: Make a morning out of it! Try getting up and out early on a Saturday. That way, you’ll beat the summer heat – and (in the best case scenario) will have plenty of time to make a full day out of it, or (worst case) you can still ditch the date and have your evening free for friends. Score!

Convinced? Here’s a list of great, inexpensive, easy summer morning date ideas to share with that special someone:

  • Go to the Farmer’s Market. Buy your date a handmade pastry, or a perfect piece of fresh fruit for breakfast. If you really want to show you care, maybe you’ll also want to pick up a small craft or piece of art to keep as a memento.
  • Get brunch. This is a little bit more pricey but it’s a great way to start a lazy summer day. And almost everyone likes pancakes, right? You can’t go wrong, and breakfast is almost always cheaper than dinner, too.
  • Hit yard sales, or estate sales. This is a great activity for couples, because they’re great conversation starters. You’ll likely find all sorts of weird stuff to talk and laugh about together, and may even find old items (nostalgic toys and games come to mind) that bring up good memories to bond over. Even better, if you find something awesome, it won’t cost all that much to buy it for her and make a new great memory together.
  • Pack a picnic. This is a summertime classic for a reason. Get your picnic items together – fruit, cheese, crackers, ice-cold lemonade and chocolate always work in a pinch – and head out for an early lunch in a beautiful spot. (Don’t forget a blanket to sit on!)
  • Take her to the State Fair, to a rodeo, or other local activity that only happens in the summer. Share a funnel cake. The people watching alone will keep you entertained.
  • Plan a really easy bike ride. Pick her up at her place, and then go for a cruise through the neighborhood. It won’t be too hot, you’ll get some fresh air, and you can stop for Slurpees to enjoy at the park.

You can’t go wrong with any of these ideas. A daytime date always just feels more fresh and creative. Even better, you’ll impress your partner by not falling into the old dinner and a movie rut. Because whether you’re a new couple, or planning your wedding, you never want to stop trying to impress each other!
