Hire the right person for the job the first time around

Businessman holding up a mop and other cleaning suppliesAs is the case with most services, it really pays off to hire professional cleaners. While hiring a budget priced company can help the bottom line, the reality is that it can adversely affect productivity. Today’s busy building owners and managers have a lot on their plates. They can’t be troubled with non-professional cleaning staff who create more trouble than they’re worth.

So how can a decision maker know who to hire to get the job done right the first time? Today’s challenging economic times make it tempting to opt for the perceived “deal,” even when it could be detrimental to the business in the end. Property managers should be skeptical of companies that come across as bottom feeders.

A good rule of thumb to follow is to inquire how many cleaners the service intends to put to work on their property, and how long it will take them to complete the work as stipulated in the contract. If it seems to good to be true, or that the cleaners will be paid less than minimum wage, then it’s time to consider other options.

Last, companies part of trade or industry organizations are usually more reputable than those who don’t have such credentials. At CSG, we’re proud to be members of several industry relevant groups.

Remember, it costs more to correct a job done wrong than to hire the right people from the outset.  So when will you make the call?
