Best practices for success – on the job and at home

maya-hun-cuz-300x225Here at Cause for Hope, we know that the best practices for building a start up business and leading a family are the same. It takes hard work, dedication, the right support and a sense of purpose. We also know that when you help an individual work toward finding a job or starting a business, the financial success and self-reliance they achieve will benefit families and communities – and lead to lasting, positive change!

Take for example the story of Maya Hun Cruz of San Mateo, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, an aspiring entrepreneur. Maya is a smart, dedicated person who had served a church mission, gotten married and started a family, and had opened a small business out of her home.

Maya is a good person with the desire to take care of the people around her. She was already working hard and doing the right things. All Maya needed was a little additional support to reach her goals.

That’s where Cause for Hope staff was able to get involved to help make a positive difference. We provide self-employment and business improvement workshops to teach the skills that aspiring entrepreneurs need to grow their business. We’re proud to be able to help Maya and others like her to find the support they need to succeed.

As a result of her participation in the Cause for Hope programs, Maya was able to learn the accounting skills she needed. Maya has been able to increase her savings, buy new equipment to expand her business, and introduce additional products.

Additionally, Maya is teaching the skills she’s learned to the other members of her family. Not only is the family benefiting from the additional income, but each member is learning the skills they will need to be successful and self-reliant in the future.

“I am happy to see the good results in my business, and I want my children to learn to manage it and remember that dreams do come true when we work hard and save with a purpose in mind,” Maya said.

We are so proud to be able to support families as they work toward their goals and break the cycle of poverty. We invite you to learn more about what we do, and get involved!
