We all know that our minds usually give up long before our bodies give out during exercise. With so many articles and videos floating around giving advice on how to do the perfect reps, burn belly fat, and advising when to drink your
protein shake we often forget that any form of exercise all starts with mentality.
If you’re lacking the correct mentality, your workout regimen will be short lived. Here are some tips to get you in the right mindset so that you can make your lifestyle last:
1. Love the pain
Learning to love and accept discomfort is perhaps one of the most difficult parts about making exercise a habit. Just as finding comfort in discomfort is a great rule of thumb for life, it also applies to working out. Enjoy the pain, and take pleasure in feeling the power of your own body.
2. Quitting isn’t an option
All fit people have one thing in common — they know that they’re never going to stop exercising. Quitting isn’t even an option. They don’t view working out as a chore, but instead a necessity that is essential for feeling their best. Understand that you’ll be your best you when your body is getting the exercise that it needs, and to continue feeling good, working out will have to be a life-long habit.
3. Do what you can, when you can
Maybe you want to make working out a habit, but stress yourself out on the days that you don’t have time to spend 45 minutes at the gym. The solution? Do what you can, when you can. Maybe you only have 5 minutes before bed to do sit ups. That’s fine, after all, it’s something (which we all know is better than nothing).
