4 Foods that pack on the muscle

So you’ve finally lost that last five pounds, and now you’ve decided that it’s time to bulk up your frame a little. You certainly won’t build your muscles by eating kale and brown rice, like you did to lose weight. Here’s what you should be eating instead:

1. Eggs
The protein in eggs has the highest biological value, a measure of how well it supports your body’s protein needs. As we know, protein helps build muscle. Don’t skip the yolk, like you did when you were dieting!

2. Almonds
Almonds are a superior source of alpha-tocopherol vitamin E, the form that’s best absorbed by your body. Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that can help prevent damage after heavy workouts. Your muscles will recover faster, and you’ll back on the muscle more quickly.

3. Yogurt
Although yogurt gets a bad wrap as a “girly” food, it’s an ideal combo of protein and carbs for exercise recovery and muscle growth. Better yet, make sure that you don’t buy the sugar free variety, and opt for a version with fruit buried at the bottom. The extra carbs will boost your blood levels of insulin, one of the major factors in reducing post exercise protein breakdown.

4. Coffee
This one may surprise you! Fueling your workout with caffeine will help you lift longer. Skip this if you have high blood pressure, though.
